Our “Queen”

Often, our best ideas come from children.

In 2004, Jamie Taylor, then age three, announced to her mother, Meg Taylor, "I want to be a ballet dancer, a doctor, and the queen of Asia." After considering Jamie's very ambitious dream, Meg was struck by the difference between Jamie's wishes and the dream of millions of other three-year-olds in the world: a meal.

For Meg, this sparked a dream of her own: Why not introduce life’s unlimited possibility to disadvantaged children so they can dream as big as Jamie?

With the belief that helping children begins with helping their mothers, Meg formed Lending Promise in 2006 to give small loans and related services to mothers so they could form businesses to become financially independent. Lending Promise made its first loans that year to women in Nepal, expanding to India in 2009. Today, Lending Promise has given loans to over 2,500 women — helping over 10,000 children dream big.
